Pick up your pre-arranged rental car at the airport today as you drive south towards Seward along the Seward Highway, an Alaska Scenic Byway where you can view the dense green forest covered by the cool misty air. Along the way, you may want to visit the Alaska Zoo. Other than the usual animals you may find in the zoo, you may get to visit the Alaska Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Owl, Wild Cat…etc., many native only to Alaska. When you arrive in Seward, a picturesque port town on Resurrection Bay, enjoy a visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center to see many marine animals; or go hiking at Exit Glacier for a fresh breath of the Alaskan air. (Overnight in Seward)
Perfect for families, this Resurrection Bay Wildlife Cruise is always a great choice to experience the coastline on a boat. Enjoy views of abundant wildlife, piedmont glaciers, and a fully narrated tour with accredited interpreters. Learn about the rich history of Resurrection Bay while viewing the jagged cliffs, extravagant seabirds, and diverse marine wildlife. Lunch is on Fox Island and includes local grilled salmon and Prime Rib w/ rice pilaf, corn on the cob, garden salad, rolls, and to end it a delicious dessert. Dress in warm layers to protect yourself from the cold breeze and bring your camera to snap photos of the amazing sights to behold. Please check in at the dock one hour before your departure time. After your tour, you are heading to Alyeska Resort at Girdwood. If time permits, you may take tramway high up to the mountain for the stunning bird’s eye view.
Today, you are proceeding to Whittier. You will travel through a scheduled tunnel to enter Whittier, which will take approximately 1 1/2 hour by driving. You will need to report at the information dock for your pre-booked cruise, the famous 26-Glacier Cruise. This tour offers close up views of the magnificent glaciers at Prince William Sound. You will come face to face with glacier-carved fjords and see the tidewater glaciers of Barry Arm. Many different animals call this area home; bald eagles are commonly seen fishing in the area along with occasional black bear sightings. Bring your binoculars, because it is not uncommon to see orca whales, humpback whales, sea lions, harbor seals, sea otters and a variety of birds in this narrow passage, while enjoying a hot lunch onboard. Return to Anchorage in the late afternoon.
