UNWIND AND RELAX, STEPS FROM THE OCEAN
Accessible only by boat, Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is the only accommodation on remote Fox Island, situated on a narrow peninsula of land south of Seward, in Resurrection Bay. All rooms afford views of the ocean or our fresh-water lagoon.
The Wilderness Lodge’s cozy guest lounge and dining room — featuring expansive views of the spanning island and the ocean bay — is the perfect spot to socialize with the other guests, curl up with a book by the fire or spot marine wildlife with our guest-use only binoculars.

Fox Island is remote, and relies on renewable energy sources to power the facilities, making it the ideal place to unplug and reconnect with nature. It’s main source of energy is solar power*. Cabins are not equipped with electrical outlets, televisions, radios or telephones*. The Wilderness Lodge has a charging station if you would like to charge your devices during your stay.
*For times of additional need, we do have propane generators as a back-up, and the staff have access to emergency communications should the need for contact with the mainland arise.

Wander the shores looking for skipping stones, or if you’re feeling active, take a challenging (steep) hike through luscious forest to a beautiful viewpoint on the other side of the island.

Settle into the soothing and smoky scent of wilderness bliss in our wood-fired saunas — a treasured tradition of relaxation on the island. Just let the team know and they will prepare at your request.
Guided Kayaking Excursion
We’ve partnered with our good friends at Sunny Cove Kayaking to bring you an included kayaking adventure. Make the most of your time and see the island from a rare point of view. Choose from full day (6.5 hours includes lunch), afternoon (3 hours) or evening (2 hours) trip. Speak to our experts for more information.
Please note: Some kayak tours begin later and end sooner in the season than dates bookable at Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge. Please confirm with a tour consultant that the kayak trip you want to take is running.

Indulge in the comforts of backcountry cooking, with seasonal, regional ingredients spotlighted in every dish. On return from your adventures, you’ll be greeted by the aromas of baked goods, freshly brewed coffee and other delectable snacks at the lodge.
