Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica is Ottawa’s largest and oldest standing church and the seat of the city’s Roman Catholic archbishop. Constructed between 1841-1865, the church is identifiable by its twin spires and gilded Madonna, easily spotted from nearby Parliament Hill. In 1990 it was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada.
