The Reversing Falls Restaurant offers local favourites from land and sea with a view of the Reversing Falls Rapids to enjoy while dining. Specialties including lemon butter haddock and steak tenderloin. This restaurant also features a delicious assortment of desserts including cheesecake and ginger molasses.
SKYWALK Saint John serves as an observation platform, rooftop deck, and theater.
At the theatre you can get comfy on a table or bench where you can watch a short film at your leisure of the Reversing Rapid Falls, learning about the geology, history and things to do. The strategic location of the observation deck allows you the opportunity to experience a unique view of the Reversing Falls Rapids, a great view of the city, and an “uptown skyline”. And if you are lucky and the tide is rising, you may even get to see some harbour seals following the fish in with the tide.
Historically, this hill served as an important military defense point. Today, re-enactment interpreters bring history to life here so visitors can learn about and experience history while on site.
Carleton Martello Tower is a national historic site of Canada built by the British during the war of 1812-1814 for the defence of Saint John. Perched on a jagged cliff on Carleton Heights to the other side of the harbour from Saint John, New Brunswick, this defence tower is significant due to its military architecture. This defence tower is one of the nine surviving Martello towers — one of the reasons why visitors flock to this sightseeing location.
If you’re planning a visit to the tower, catch the displays at the Visitor Centre and marvel at the architectural integrity of the tower’s ceiling before climbing to the top of the tower. It’s recommended that you drive there instead of walking since the area leading to the tower is hilly and undulating. Indulge yourself in the glorious views of Saint John, Partridge Island, Fort Dufferin, Fort Mispec, and the Bay of Fundy.
